Sony Xperia C3 is a good quality Android smartphone, which comes with 5.5 inch IPS LCD touchscreen display powered by 1.2 GHz cortex A7 processor, and it runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating which is upgradable to Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. If you are using this device and want to root it, then you are on the right page. Here, I have given a step by step tutorial to root Sony Xperia C3 D2533 smartphone.
By following the tutorial given below, you will be able to root all variants of Sony Xperia C3 (D2533) easily without using a PC at all. Once you have gained root privileges in your device, you will be able to install custom ROM firmware, remove pre-installed apps, and do a lot more things.
WARNING: Rooting your Sony smartphone will void its warranty. Also, if you don’t follow the steps given here properly, there is a chance that your device might get bricked and if that happens, do not hold me liable. Proceed at your OWN risk.
Prerequisites:
Step 1: Before getting started with the rooting procedure of your Sony smartphone, take a complete backup of personal data using Sony PC companion. When you have a backup, you don’t have to worry about your device getting crashed during the rooting process as you it restores your data.
Step 2: Next, you will need to enable USB debugging mode in your smartphone. For that, enable Developer options by following this path: Settings -> About Phone (tap on it for several times to enable Developer options). Once enabled, you can enable USB debugging by following this path: Settings -> Developer options -> USB Debugging (tap on it to enable this option).
Step 3: Now, enable “Installation from Unknown sources” by following this path: Settings -> Security -> Device Administration -> Unknown Sources (tap on the box next to it, to enable this option).
Step 4: Make sure that you have deactivated or uninstalled antivirus programs and apps in your computer and your device respectively as they tend to disrupt the rooting procedure.
Once you have finished all these prerequisites, you can move forward to the rooting tutorial given below.
Tutorial To Root Sony Xperia C3 D2533:
Step 1: To get started, download KingRoot apk to your device. While downloading, you might get some error messages stating that the KingRoot apk might harm your device. Just ignore it and download the file to your device.
Step 2: Once downloaded, install KingRoot in your device.
Step 3: Once installed, open up the app in your device. Since you haven’t rooted your device, you will get the message “Root Access Is Unavailable“. Now, click on “Start Root” to begin the rooting procedure.
Step 4: Now, KingRoot will show the message “Rooting. Plz, don’t worry if your device reboot“.
Step 5: Once the rooting process gets finished, you will get the message “Root Successfully“.
Step 6: That’s it. Now you have successfully finished rooting Sony Xperia C3 D2533 device without PC. Now, let’s find out how to replace KingUser with SuperSU. For that, first download and install BusyBox from Google Play Store. Once installed, open up the app and install Busybox on your smartphone. Once the process is finished, you can close the app.
Step 7: Now, download Terminal Emulator for Android from the Google Play store and install it in your device. Once done, download Replace Kinguser with SuperSU zip package and extract it to your device. After extracting, make sure that the extracted “mrw” is in the internal memory of your device.
Step 8: Once everything is in place, open the Terminal Emulator for Android and enter the following commands one by one:
su (it will ask for root permission, grant it)
sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
Step 9: Once the Terminal Emulator for Android app finishes running the above commands, SuperSU will be successfully installed in your device. Now, open it up and follow the onscreen instructions to update the binary and remove KingUser from your device.
Step 10: Finally, open up Root Explorer and follow this path: Root -> Data -> App to see “eu.chainfire.supersu-1 route” folder. Now, move this folder to: Root -> System -> App. Once done, restart your device and the rooting will be permanent.
That’s it. Now you have successfully finished rooting Sony Xperia C3 D2533 and replaced KingUser with SuperSU. Now to confirm root privileges in your device, use the Root Checker app from Google Play Store.
